Privacy Policy

Effective date: March 20, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how clips.gg ("we," "us," or "our") handles information in connection with the clips.gg Devvit app available on Reddit. It applies to information processed through the app itself and does not replace Reddit's own privacy disclosures or the privacy practices of third-party sites you may visit from links in the app.

1. Overview

The app is built to display ranked clip information inside Reddit and may support Reddit-native actions, such as creating or managing app-related posts or workflows where available.

Because the app operates through Reddit and Devvit, some information may be provided to the app by Reddit's platform context when you use it.

2. Information We May Receive

Depending on how the app is used, we may receive or process the following categories:

  • Reddit username, display context, subreddit, post, and installation context.
  • Public clip and ranking data fetched from api.clips.gg.
  • Request metadata, service logs, and error information needed for operations.
  • Information needed to carry out actions you intentionally take in the app.

3. Public Clip and Ranking Data

The app currently fetches ranked clip information from api.clips.gg. That data may include:

  • clip IDs and slugs;
  • source titles and source URLs;
  • clip URLs and video URLs;
  • creation dates, durations, rankings, and scoring metadata.

This information is generally public-facing content or metadata associated with clips displayed through the app.

4. Information We Do Not Currently Collect Directly

Based on the app's current design, we do not currently ask you to create a separate clips.gg account for this Devvit app, and we do not currently collect payment card information through the app.

We also do not describe the app as using its own advertising cookies or selling personal information collected directly through this Devvit experience. If that changes, we will update this Privacy Policy.

5. How We Use Information

  • Operate, deliver, and improve the app.
  • Fetch and display ranked clip content.
  • Support Reddit-native actions initiated through the app.
  • Monitor reliability, diagnose errors, and maintain security.
  • Prevent abuse, misuse, and violations of law or platform rules.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.

6. How Information Is Shared

We may share information in the following circumstances:

  • With Reddit and platform providers as part of running the app within Devvit.
  • With service providers that help us host, log, secure, or operate the app.
  • With linked or external destinations when you choose to open a clip or source page.
  • When reasonably necessary for legal, safety, fraud, or security reasons.
  • As part of a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale if permitted.

We do not state that we sell personal information collected directly through this app.

7. Data Retention

We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for operating the app, maintaining security and reliability, troubleshooting, internal recordkeeping, complying with legal obligations, resolving disputes, and enforcing agreements.

8. Third-Party Services and Links

The app may link to clips.gg, Reddit pages, or third-party source content. Those sites and services have their own terms and privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their privacy practices.

9. Security and International Processing

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information we process through the app, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

Information may be processed in countries other than the one in which you live, depending on where Reddit, clips.gg, or service providers operate infrastructure.

10. Your Choices and Contact

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights regarding personal information, such as rights to request access, correction, deletion, or restriction.

Because the app operates within Reddit, some data or permissions may be controlled by Reddit's own systems and policies. You may also stop using the app at any time.

To make a privacy request, contact support@clips.gg.
